Day four experiences

Day four

The best night's sleep thus far. Up soon after 0630 for some yoga and a lovely walk around the nearby park with the girls.  Breakfast is very similar to home - toast, cereal, eggs and juice.

Those of us working at Vidya had our first orientation session this morning.  This was an extremely insightful session about the history, growth and goals behind the Vidya School program and expectations of us as volunteers. It was so wonderful to hear how much Indians value education and the importance of it.  It made me a little sad about the number of Australian's who take the access to education for granted and in some regards don't value or respect it. Most of you know my thoughts on education and it's one of my reasons for being here.  It's the key to everything, without it you have no knowledge, without it you have limited choices.

Another delicious lunch followed by our first Hindi lesson....more work required there.

This afternoon's session was a lecture on Indian history and politics.  Also very interesting.  The professor is retired from the Centre for Political Studies.

Off to dinner shortly, then some preparation for my placement and early to bed.

Namaste x
